Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting) This flour provides structure and a tender crumb.
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz) Infuses each roll with a rich flavor.
  • 0.5 cup warm whole milk About 110°F; helps activate the yeast.
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast One packet; essential for leavening.
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted Adds richness and tenderness.
  • 1 large egg Adds moisture and richness.
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt Balances sweetness and enhances flavors.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5-7 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, and egg until well combined.
  • Gently add the yeast mixture to your wet ingredients and stir lightly.
  • Gradually whisk in the flour and salt, mixing until the dough begins to come together.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1 ½ hours, or until doubled in size.

Shaping and Baking

  • Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each into a smooth ball and place on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Cover the rolls loosely with a towel and let them rise again for 30-45 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Before baking, brush the tops with melted butter.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and brush with more melted butter. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm at breakfast, with jams, or enjoy them as a sweet addition to meals. Consider using whole wheat flour for a healthier option or adding fillings like chocolate chips.
