Ingredients
  

For the Red Velvet Layer

  • 1 box Red velvet cake mix Use your favorite brand.
  • 4 large Eggs Room temperature for best results.
  • 1/2 cup Water As per box instructions.
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable oil Or any neutral oil.

For the Green Loaf Batter

  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, softened Ensure it's at room temperature.
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar Balances flavors.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract For flavor enhancement.
  • 1 1/2 cups All-purpose flour Spoon and level for accuracy.
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder Leavening agent.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Balances sweetness.
  • 2-3 tablespoons Green food coloring Adjust to achieve desired color.
  • 1/2 cup Milk Whole or your choice of milk.

For the Icing

  • 2 cups Powdered sugar Use for icing.
  • 2-4 tablespoons Milk Adjust for desired consistency.
  • to taste sprinkles Holiday sprinkles For decoration.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the red velvet layer according to box directions and bake in a 9×13-inch pan for 20-25 minutes. Let it cool completely.
  • Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out hearts from the cooled red velvet cake.

Batter Mixing

  • Cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk until well blended.
  • Mix in green food coloring until desired shade is reached.

Assembly and Baking

  • Pour a thin layer of green batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Stand red velvet hearts upright in the center of the pan and gently pour remaining green batter over them.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  • Cool completely in the pan before removing.

Icing and Serving

  • Mix powdered sugar with milk to a smooth consistency for icing.
  • Decorate with sprinkles before serving.
