  • 1.5 pounds store-bought or homemade pizza dough Provides a wonderfully fluffy base.

Filling

  • 9 tablespoons creamy pesto Divided to enhance each layer.
  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella Split to create pockets of melty goodness.
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil For brushing the dough.
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan Adds nuttiness on top.
  • Marinara sauce For serving, perfect for dipping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Divide the pizza dough into 4 equal pieces and roll each into an 11-inch circle.
  • Layer one dough circle on a parchment-lined baking sheet and spread 3 tablespoons of pesto evenly.
  • Sprinkle with 1/4 cup of shredded mozzarella.
  • Repeat with the remaining dough circles, keeping the top circle bare.
  • Brush the top layer with olive oil and sprinkle with Parmesan.
  • Place a small bowl in the center for cutting guidance.

Assembly

  • Using a sharp knife, cut the circle into 16 equal strips.
  • Twist two adjacent strips away from each other four times and pinch edges to secure.
  • Repeat with all remaining strips to form a star shape.

Baking

  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving with marinara sauce.

Notes

Don’t skimp on the pesto for maximum flavor. Allow the dough to rest for best texture. Be gentle when twisting the strips to avoid tearing the dough.
