For the salmon

  • 4 pieces salmon fillets, 6 ounces each, patted dry Fresh, moist, and flaky, ideal for the dish.
  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided Perfect for cooking and contributing rich flavor.

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes until well-blended and glossy.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Once the oil is glistening but not smoking, carefully place the salmon fillets in the skillet, skin side up. Season with Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper.

Cooking

  • Sear the salmon for about two minutes until the flesh is just heated through and crisp.
  • Flip the salmon over to skin side down and drizzle the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil into the skillet.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for about one minute, being careful not to burn it.
  • Pour the honey mixture over the salmon and adorn with thin lemon rounds.
  • Cook, basting occasionally, until the sauce has reduced by about one-third, around three minutes more.

Notes

For the best results, use fresh salmon fillets. Consider marinating the salmon in the honey-soy sauce mixture for at least 30 minutes before cooking for enhanced flavor. Additional vegetables can be added during cooking for a complete meal.
