  • 2 ripe Hass avocados Choose ones that yield slightly when pressed.
  • 1 red chili Adds a touch of heat and vibrant color.
  • 2 medium spring onions Enhances freshness.
  • 1 clove garlic Contributes savory depth.
  • 2 fresh limes Juiced for brightness and acidity.
  • 1 pinch sea salt flakes Enhances flavors.
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper For a mild spiciness.

For toasting

  • 2 slices favorite bread Whole grain, sourdough, or gluten-free.

Preparation

  • Cut the avocados in half lengthwise, remove the pits, and peel the skin. Dice the flesh and add it to a mixing bowl.
  • Finely chop the spring onions, garlic, and red chili, then add them to the bowl with the avocado.
  • Roll the limes on the countertop, then cut in half and squeeze the juice into the bowl.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt and freshly ground black pepper over the mixture and stir to combine.
  • Gently mash the avocado mixture to your desired texture—smooth or chunky.
  • Toast the slices of bread until golden brown and crisp.
  • Spread the guacamole generously on the toasted bread and serve immediately.

Notes

For a creamier guacamole, use a fork or potato masher to mash the avocados. Adjust lime juice to your taste. Top with cherry tomatoes, radishes, or feta cheese for added texture.
