Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 6 large hard-boiled large eggs perfectly cooked to a tender finish
  • 1 cup dill pickles finely chopped for a delightful crunch
  • ½ cup mayonnaise creating a creamy texture
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill chopped for an aromatic touch
  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard adding a hint of zest
  • Salt and pepper to taste, enhancing the overall flavor
  • ½ cup celery finely chopped (optional), for additional flavor and crunch

Instructions

Preparation

  • Boil the eggs: Fill a medium saucepan with water and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Carefully add the eggs, ensuring they are fully submerged. Let them simmer for 10-12 minutes until they are perfectly cooked and firm.
  • Cool the eggs: Once the eggs are done, transfer them immediately into a bowl of cold running water or ice water to stop the cooking process.
  • Chop the vegetables: While the eggs are cooling, finely chop the dill pickles and celery (if using).
  • Mash the eggs: Peel the cooled eggs and place them in a mixing bowl. Using a fork, crumble the eggs into a tender texture.
  • Combine ingredients: Stir in the mayonnaise and yellow mustard until the eggs are fully coated. Add the chopped pickles, fresh dill, salt, pepper, and optional celery, gently mixing everything together.
  • Taste and adjust: Once mixed, sample the salad and adjust the seasoning to your liking.
  • Chill before serving: Place the egg salad in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Serve: Plate the salad on a bed of crisp lettuce or use it as a filling for a sandwich. Garnish with a sprig of fresh dill.

Notes

Tips: Use fresh eggs for hard boiling; allow sufficient time for cooling the eggs before peeling. Mix mayonnaise and mustard before adding other ingredients. Don't skip chilling the salad to enhance flavors.
