Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 3 minutes.
  • Incorporate the ground beef into the skillet and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and Italian seasoning. Let simmer for 20 minutes.

Layering and Baking

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with salt, pepper, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  • In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, and sprinkle mozzarella cheese. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with meat sauce topped with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For more flavor, consider using fresh herbs like basil or parsley, or adding sautéed vegetables like spinach or mushrooms. You can prepare lasagna a day in advance and refrigerate it. Freezes well for up to three months.
