Chicken Philly Cheese Steaks

Ingredients
  

For the Chicken and Seasoning

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs Ensures juicy and tender bites.

For Assembly

  • 6-8 slices provolone cheese Melts perfectly over chicken and veggies.
  • 4 rolls hoagie rolls Lightly toasted for extra crunch.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Slice the chicken breasts or thighs into thin strips.
  • In a bowl, mix the chicken with Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, kosher salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat well.

Cooking the Vegetables

  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, add 1 teaspoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter.
  • Once melted, add onions and bell peppers. Cook for 6-8 minutes until tender.
  • Add minced garlic and Italian seasoning. Cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Remove vegetable mixture from skillet and set aside.

Cooking the Chicken

  • In the same skillet, increase heat to high. Cook the chicken strips for 3-4 minutes until cooked through and browned.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

Combining and Melting

  • Lower the heat to medium-low and return veggies to the skillet.
  • Form mounds of the chicken and veggies and place slices of provolone cheese on top.
  • Cover and let sit for 30-60 seconds for cheese to melt.

Assembling the Sandwiches

  • Divide the mixture among the split hoagie rolls.
  • Add optional spreads if desired before serving hot.

Notes

For deeper flavor, marinate chicken for a few hours or overnight. Experiment with different cheese options. For an extra kick, add spicy peppers.
