  • 1 pound ground beef (preferably 80/20) For moisture.
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs For a hearty texture.
  • 2 large eggs To bind the ingredients.

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Glaze Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup For sweetness.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease a loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking sheet and shape it into an 8x4 inch loaf, or pack it into a loaf pan.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, salt, and pepper to prepare the glaze.
  • Pour half of the glaze over the meatloaf.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45-60 minutes or until a meat thermometer reads 160°F (70°C) at the center.
  • Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Drizzle with the remaining glaze before serving.

Notes

To avoid dense meatloaf, do not overmix the ingredients. It's helpful to use a meat thermometer to ensure proper cooking.
