Preparation

  • Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.

  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Gradually fold the dry mixture into the butter mixture, alternating with milk.
  • Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch cake pan and smooth the top.
  • Arrange the sliced apples on top of the batter, pressing them down slightly.
